My son Leon has just started on Keppra. It seems to be doing its job so far but he's still only on 2mls per day.(on top of Epilim and Lamotrogine). I need to be increasing to 5 mls but the stuff tastes awful. I've managed to stir it in with yoghurts and trifles but as the dose increases, I suspect that he will start refusing it again.
So, has anybody found a clever way of disguising the taste of Keppra?

Hi, i have this problem with maisie, she has all meds in tablets as she spits out the liquid. She's had kepra before & that comes in tabs too, but not sure if the dosage would match your 5ml etc... I give maisie each tablet on a sthingyful of blended tea eg.. potato hash blended & thankfully the tabs go down & she doesnt know!!!!
Hope this helps......

Thanks for those. I like the food flavouring idea, may give that a try.
With regards to the tablets, has your doctor said it's ok to crush the pills? I'd considered doing that myself but the Keppra website states that they should be swallowed whole.
If they can be crushed that would suit us. H takes Episenta(Epilim slow release) capsules sprinkled onto his food too.

Well, I'm having a bit more success now. I add the Keppra to his Weetabix with a sthingy of sugar. The sugar helps to get it down.
After tea he has it stirred into his rice pudding/yoghurt/mashed banana.
I feel so sorry for him though because his favourite foods now don't taste as nice as they used to. I'm trying not to give him those things without the Keppra in now. Hopefully their deliciousness will soon be a vague, distant memory. lol

Well, I requested some Keppra from my GP the other day and the prescription was wrong. I ended up with tablets instead of syrup.
Anyway, as he was now up to 500mg per dose I thought I'd give them a try. I asked the pharmacist if it was ok to crush them and he said yes. He just specified that he must take them with a drink.
I've been crushing them with the back of a sthingy and mixing it with a small cup of his milkshake.
Leon's Weetabix and Rice Puddings taste nice again. :-)
