Hi everyone, I don't post very often but always read what others have to say and offer advice when I can. Madison is now 19 months old.15 months corrected age. ( 4months early). Anyhow she has an ulcer under her tounge from having alot of seizures. When she seizes she tounge thrusts and at times the ulcer opens and bleeds. This coming Monday Oct. 24 she is going in to have her two bottome teeth extracted. Because of her multiple problems, prematurity, and lissencephaly she needs to be put to sleep and has to stay in ICU overnight as it can be difficult to get these kids off of ventilators. Has anyone experienced this before? Ulcers or sores under the tounge from seizing and tounge thrusting. Madison was supposed to have an MRI with this procedure but they cannot remove her teeth in the MRI room because of the magnets. So now the MRI has to wait. And I'm quite dissapointed as I really wanted that. Anyhow please say lots of prayers for Madison and I hope she comes off of the ventilator no problem. Lori and Madison-Vancouver B.C.-lissencephaly, g-tube fed, nissen fundoplication, seizures, bilateral optic atrophy, hearing impaired, partial hip dislocation, very floppy,no head control.

My own personal opinion is that valproic acid contributes to mouth ulcers. My daughter had ulcers for several years whilst on this med, for other reasons, we discontinued it, the mouth ulcers ceased, recently started back on this med and ulcers have returned. Maybe coincidence?

I need some help. I am looking for an Insurance Policy that covers pre-existing condions. I phoned one called Pharm Assist and they will not cover you if you are wheelchair bound or tube fed. I have finally gotten an appointment for Madison to have an MRI done. I have been fighting for so long for it. It it on Nov. 24/05. I would then like to take her to Chicago to see Dr.Dobyns. But I need insurance in case she gets sick. Does anyone know of anyone that will cover pre existing condtions. Remember I live in Cananda. Vancouver BC. By the way Madison had her teeth extractions due to the ulcer under her tounge from seizing and she came off the ventilator right away and did very well. ANy information would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Lori and Madison Taylor

My sister also got her tooth extracted postpartum. She was in pain all her pregnancy time but it was suggested to not get herself treated that time because it will be very painful and having meds would not be good for the baby. She got her tooth extraction done from dentist Redondo Beach and it was a successful surgery.
