Debbie Ashurst (telephone 01383/620775) has asked me to consult the forum about Keppra (Levetiracetam) in Lissencephaly. She has no access to the internet but I will check this website for replies. Her daughter has Lis1 and different types of epileptic seizures. She is 21 years old. She is currently taking Lamotrigine and Nitrazepam for her seizures. Her doctor has suggested Keppra but is concerned that she has no experience with this drug in Lissencephaly. Has anyone tried Keppra? With what success? Were there side-effects?
Thanks for getting back to me.

Hi Mark,
i have phoned debbie as my son declan who is nearly 3 yrs old and has been recently weaned of levetiracetam. i have to inform you that this disgusting drug was one of the worst declan has ever used and hes tried them all.
the side effects were horrific and it actually increased his seizure activity, as each child is different its a personal choice if you use it but i would say no. our angels go through to much and that was hard to witness. sorry

Hi, my name is Nomi I am writing from Seattle. I have a 20mo old baby girl. Her name is Mayanin. She just started Keppra like 1 1\2 wks ago. She has since then decreased her seisures by 1\2. I have noticed that she has been sleeping alittle more. But that is about it. You want to keep in mind that all meds taken will effect people different. But you should always be aware of side effects. Let me know how it go's.
