Hi, I am knew here and live in the uk with my husband and my 3 year old son. My 20 week anomaly scan showed brain damage to front and back and after testing we were told that baby had partial agenesis of the vermis at the back of the brain. WE were sent for an MRI and this confirmed not only the above but Lissencephaly.
We will not know what type or how sever until baby is born and we have been given the option to continue or terminater. I am totally lost and feeling very sad as would love to keep the baby but what quality of life will baby actually have. Dr tells me baby will not live for long, will neede constant care, will be very poorly and in and out of hospital. Plus practically I will need to give up my job, how would we pay our mortgage and bills on 1 wage, not to mention the impact on my 3 year old. Then I need to consider the sad time when baby dies and having to explain to a young child that his brother or sister has died.
I really do not know where to turn and would appreciate your help in any way. Thank you

My heart goes out to you and your family at such an extremely difficult time. One thing I can say is that on this forum you will not be judged. Each choice we have to make is individual and unique to ourselves. When Emily was diagnosed at 5 months we had similar choices to make regarding work etc and, surprisingly we have managed. We were able to contact the mortgage company to lessen payments for a while etc. Jane has since gone to work part time and that eases things a little. We have learned to live a life that is blessed with Emily and we no longer pay any importance to money, however stressful it gets; and trust me it does! I remember our doctor telling us Emily would not live past the age of 2 and she is 7 this month. Each child is unique and the research doesn't always tell the whole truth and it is only developed by a small sample of case studies. Don't believe all you read! Ultimately the choice belongs to your family, you'll do what you feel is the best for your family but please, stay in touch with people on this forum it will help you with your decision making and ANY issues you feel you would need to talk about.
Stay positive and feel free to message or email if I can be of any help sturobbie76@gmail.com
Hugs and Kisses Stuart and Emily xxxxx
