My daughter Mary was diagnosed before birth and has done extremely well up until 5 months when the infantile spasms started. She is currently on Topiramx and Clonazapam. I question the efficacy of both of these meds. She continues to have clusters and I feel that with each one, we lose ground developmentally that we have been try to gain through physical therapy. Has any one successfully controlled infantile spasms. What meds? Thank you for any help or advice!

My son (almost 9 months old) started having infantile spasms about a month ago. He was put on a high dose of prednisolone and within 3 days they were completely stopped. That has been 2 weeks ago. We're now slowly weaning him off this medication (as it is not a good one to be on long term) and hopefully his IS will not return. I have heard that only a steroid based medication will stop the IS seizures. But we're very new to this also. We've only known for about a month now that our son has lissencephaly.
