Hi there, My son Jesse started taking Kepra about one month ago. Seizures have diminished. When he has a seizure (not often now) they last about 2 minutes compared to 15 minutes before he was on Kepra. He is also on Valproic Acid.

Hello, Declan tried Keppra but his experience was that good to be honest, it actually made Declan's seizures worse and he was very sensitive whilst on it!!!. A sudden noise, the sound of the microwave, phone ringing etc would send him into a seizure. Each child is different though honey, and friends whose children has been on Keppra have a good experience! Take care Caz and Dec xx www.declan-kelly.com

Hi there, Clair (just turned 3 with LCH) has just started on Keppra, we have been amazed at the difference.....she is much clearer, trying to do more, using more words....just 'with it'. She has had mucous type problems from commencing this....but they are now almost normal, as the docs said they would (thank goodness). Clair is also on Epilim and we are weaning her off of the Sabril (vigabatrin). Hope this helps. Sharon

Thank you all for your replies. Heather`s consultant decided not to introduce Keppra after all. Heather is currently on Epilim, Lamotrigine and Clonazepam with Midazolam to stop a seizure, which she has about once a week. He didn`t want to risk removing one of her current meds in order to introduce the Keppra saying that we could be in for very stormy waters. I had heard that Keppra was the new wonder drug so it was interesting to hear that not every experience was a positive one. Thank you again and take care, Heyjean

Leon has just been prescribed Keppra today. He already takes Epilim (Episenta slow release capsules) and Lamotrogine.
The Lamotrogine is planned for weaning off if we see improvements on the Keppra.
I'll report back if and when I see any changes.

my child Jacob has been having myclonic jerks, i don't know if these are the same as seizures but he has been prescribed Clonazepam which seemed to reduce the instances of myclonic jerks but affected his breathing which seemed laboured and he became unresponsive at times, we decided it was doing more harm than good, we have since seen the consultant and told him of our concerns, he has decided to ween him off Clonazepam and up his Lamotragine. At the moment he seems a bit ' spaced out ' not himself, i'm hoping this is a temporary thing and that he level's out.

Leon's now been on Keppra for 4 weeks and I've seen significant improvements.
He's not seizure free, but they are less frequent and milder.
I assume we'll be weaning him off the Sodium Valproate shortly.

I assume we'll be weaning him off the Sodium Valproate shortly. This didn't last. The seizures have returned again, less severe in the main but more frequent. He has haad a couple of bad ones recently where he had to catch his breath between longer convulsions, which is a concern. I've mentioned it to the epilepsy nurse and she's going to discuss it with the neurologist and get back to me.
